From the initial building work to the final quality inspection, we construct our Murphy Beds with innovation, care and precision. Learn more about our construction process to understand the full value of our beautiful wood Murphy Style Beds.
Solid Wood Internal Framework
Our Murphy Beds have been engineered with one of the most reliable internal frameworks on the market. In fact, when engaged, each Murphy Bed has been designed to withhold up to 1,000 lbs. We’ve accomplished this by creating a 2 inch solid wood grid and encasing the grid within solid wood panels. Nothing is stronger.
Smooth & Even Panels - For Years to Come
We believe in using the materials best for each application. With our experience, we have discovered that solid wood front panels that cover large surface areas create a surface that cracks and warps over time. Therefore, we’ve created our look by utilizing top grade particle board that creates a smooth and even texture for the life of your Murphy Bed. Our industrial grade particleboard is many times stronger than typical particleboard cores, with a compression rate of 55 pounds per square inch, versus the average 30 pounds per square inch density. This results in not only a stronger product, but a more beautiful one as well.
Hand Picked Grain Work
We believe in not only making our Murphy Beds as strong as possible, but also in making them as beautiful as possible. That’s why we don’t settle for any wood veneer. We construct our Murphy Beds with the most expensive veneer on the market: veneer cut with a rift grain, also known as quarter saw grain (see left). This grain provides an even uniform texture that is much more pleasing to the eye in large surface areas. Other manufacturers are content using inferior rotary cut veneers. Check out the difference for yourself by clicking on the picture to the left.
Durable Drawer Construction
Our bookcase drawers are constructed using Baltic birch plywood, imported from Baltic, Russia. We have selected this material because of its strength and resistance to warping, ensuring that your drawer will function as needed for many years to come. All our drawers glide in and out on metal rails, which guarantees a smooth roll even when your drawer is full. Other companies use wood rails, which cause friction when opening drawers, and are unpleasant to use. Last but not least, we go the extra mile and put in melamine bottoms on all of our drawers, eliminating the need for plastic linings and making it easier to clean up messes.
Time Honored Craftsmanship
Our Murphy Beds are handcrafted and it shows. We do not have an enormous factory that mass-produces Murphy Beds, nor have we computerized our manufacturing process to cut corners and save money. We build every Murphy Bed from scratch – the old fashion way.
Sturdy Metal Hardware
From the types of wood we select to the finishing oils we use, we believe in offering nothing but the best to our customers. That’s why the Murphy Bed hardware we add is all top of the line as well. You won’t find anything better!
