At Old Creek, we offer our wall beds in either oak or maple - two timeless hardwoods that never go out of style. Because we offer only two wood types, we keep down our own costs and pass factory-direct affordability on to you.
It has been our long-standing tradition that each piece of furniture we craft is fashioned from the highest quality wood solids and plywood veneers available. Our dedication to quality means that each piece of furniture will exhibit the beauty and uniqueness of the specific wood it is created from whether it is maple or oak. Because wood is a living thing no two pieces are identical. Each demonstrates its own characteristics and variations in grain and color. As no two trees are alike, color variations are inherent in all genuine wood furniture. The result is a masterpiece with an elegantly natural and unique feel.
In addition to our thorough selection of fine woods, our wall beds are all hand-finished – not sprayed. First, we sand the wood to a 220 sand grit, and then hand-apply a sealer coat. After a 24 hour drying period, we sand the furniture a second time to 300 sand grit for an even smoother surface, and hand-apply a finishing coat. Since we hand-apply the oil finish rather than spraying, the color penetrates the wood for a richer, longer-lasting tone. After another 24 hour drying period, we then give the wood a final buffing. Once our finishing experts have perfected the look of your wall bed, our quality control team performs a thorough inspection – not once, but twice!

Maple
Maple is an open-grained hardwood that has alternating areas of relatively porous and dense wood. When stained, the open-grain areas absorb the color readily while the harder areas are more resistant. This accentuates the grain patterns, creating a dramatic effect. Maple is very durable and is preferred by many craftsmen due to its ability to resist moisture absorption.
Our maple wall beds and bookcases are available in a natural finish.
Oak
Oak is an exceptionally hard and dense wood, which tends to be heavier than most other hardwoods. It is closed-grained, demonstrating a more uniform grain texture throughout furniture.
Our oak furniture is available in either a honey or cherry finish.
